OSH Statement of Intent

Harwoods Limited (the company) is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its staff and that everyone should go home safe, every day. The company also accepts its responsibility for other people with whom it interacts and that it will take the steps necessary to ensure their health and safety. The company will provide the resources required to ensure that it can meet this ongoing commitment and its legal obligations.

Where people require timely information for their wellbeing this will be provided, guidance given, and feedback sought. Specifically, staff will be given such information, instructions and training as is necessary to enable the safe and effective performance of their work and the company will ensure that all processes and systems of work are assessed, designed to take account of health, safety and welfare and will be adequately supervised at all times.

It should also be remembered that all staff have a legal obligation to take reasonable care of their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those who may be affected by their actions.

The OSH processes allow everyone to raise issues of health, safety and welfare and employee input is actively encouraged. Where necessary, competent people will be appointed to assist the company in meeting its duties, including if appropriate, specialists from outside the company.

The company is committed to ensuring that the work areas, equipment, tools, materials and systems of work provided are safe and without risk and all employees have a duty in law to co-operate as far as is necessary to assist the company in compliance of its duties.

Details of the organisational structure and the implementation arrangements for health, safety and welfare are set out in the company's Occupational Safety and Health System together with how the company will monitor its OSH performance. This policy will be reviewed and if necessary, revised in the light of performance or legislative requirement.
